Get to know Bahya
Bahya Al-Hamad is a talented Qatari rifle shooter. She holds an honours degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, which she completed in 2023.
Recognising her exceptional skills and achievements, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) honoured her with the title of Best Female Athlete of the Year for 2011-2012. Bahya's journey to success began when she qualified for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, where she proudly carried the flag for Qatar during the Opening Ceremony.
In 2012, Bahya made history as the first woman to represent Qatar at the Olympic Games. She competed in the 10-meter air rifle discipline, where she showcased her talent and determination. Out of 56 participants, she achieved an impressive 17th place. To top it off, Bahya had the honour of being Qatar's flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony.
